2008-11-22 · Hi, I'm from the other thread on smoking a turkey. I actually misspoke in my original post. I'm grilling the turkey over indirect heat in a covered grill with the average temp around 300-325. Hence, the 3 1/2 hour estimate for a 12 -14 pound bird. Smoking, which it sounds like what you're interested in, is much slower and at a lower temperature.
